Noah’s Ark Have Just Been Discovered, Experts Say
As far back as 2010 or before, headlines have claimed that researchers found Noah’s Ark. Around that time, Chinese and Turkish researchers claimed to find it, but they were deemed not very credible.
According to a 2010 Fox News article titled “Has Noah’s Ark Been Found on Turkish Mountaintop?”:
A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say wooden remains they have discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are the remains of Noah’s Ark.
The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.
Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah’s Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery, said: “It’s not 100 percent that it is Noah’s Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it.
Now, an American researcher named Professor Paul Esprante is spearheading efforts to identify traces of a large wooden structure on Mount Ararat in Agri, Turkey (also known as Agri Mountain). The same location named by the past researchers is proving to be accurate.
Paul says he is determined to find more evidence that the ark landed there.
A three-day International Symposium of Mount Ararat and Noah’s Ark took place recently in Agri, which examined evidence offered by experts seeking to identify the final resting place of the historical Ark.
Paul Esprante was one of 108 scientists from Turkey and around the globe to attend the conference. He said:
My purpose is to visit the sites around the mountain to find clues about catastrophic events in the past. I think that rigorous, serious scientific work is needed in the area, and I would like to collaborate in that.
We have technical resources and we can work together with local experts.
The result of my findings will be published in books, publications and journals, but at this point it is too early to know what we are going to find.
Once the scientific community knows about the existence of Noah’s Ark in Mount Ararat, we can make it available to the general public.
Dr Oktay Belli, an Istanbul University Professor added: “Noah’s Ark, the Flood is not a myth but a real incident mentioned in all holy books.
According to the Independent:
The story of Noah’s Ark is mentioned in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It tells of how God warned Noah about a flood that would imminently cover the entire earth, and instructed him to build a boat to keep alive him and his family, as well as a pair of each animal species.
Historical evidence suggests there was indeed a flood at the time that the story of Noah is said to have taken place.
The ark, meanwhile, is thought to have landed on Mount Ararat in Turkey’s eastern Agri province. In addition to biblical references to the vessel landing on the “mountains of Ararat”, modern aerial images have revealed an object that appeared to resemble part of a ship.
The story of Noah’s Ark has a lot of relevance to today, being a story about basically a doomsday scenario causing the collapse and rejuvenation of society.
Even if you’re an atheist, the fact that so many historical references to this Ark have been made undeniably means something.
Is Noah’s Ark an allegory about the cycle of society rising and falling, or a true historical event, or both? Every day it’s seeming more like the ancients spoke in facts, not allegories.
